Whether providing low income lending solutions, funding for revitalization projects or providing financial education, we are committed to improving lives, removing barriers and helping our communities continually grow.

About Our Community Outreach

Castle Bank has a long history of strengthening and enriching the lives of our neighbors in the communities in which we live and work. For decades, we have provided resources to seed ideas, foster development initiatives and encourage leadership in nonprofit organizations where imagination and determination are at work enhancing people's lives every day.

  • Financial Education — Through programs such as First At Work, Castle Bank partners with local employers to introduce the concept of being “money smart” and delivers financial education services and tools throughout the community. Our 13 financial education courses are designed to improve financial literacy and understanding of the banking industry by teaching topics such as Budgeting, Investing, and First Time Home Buying.

  • Community Development – First in the Community means proactively building stronger and more stable local communities. With a focus on affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization and stabilization, small business development, and economic opportunity, Castle Bank and its affiliate First National Nebraska Community Development Corporation (CDC), are leaders in providing the capital necessary to ensure the economic success of our communities.

  • Community Development Grants and Investments — Castle Bank awards grants to non profit organizations delivering community development programs and services that impact low-to-moderate income individuals, families, and communities. With the help of Castle Bank, prior grant recipients have constructed affordable housing, helped entrepreneurs start successful small businesses, and provided individuals with the training necessary to gain stable employment. Area organizations that have previously received a Castle Bank Community Development grant include:

    • Cornerstone Young Women's Center
    • DeKalb County Economic Development Corporation
    • Elgin Community College - Small Business Development Center
    • Fox Valley Entrepreneurship Center
    • Fox Valley Older Adult Services
    • Kiswaukee College Foundation - Business Development Center
    • McHenry Community College - Small Business Development Center
    • McHenry County Economic Development Corporation
    • Open Door Rehabilitation Center

  • Community Development Lending — Castle Bank believes we will be successful if our communities are successful. We’re proud to lend a helping hand to make our community a better place to live, work and play. This extension is shown through our support of various economic lending initiatives and our collaboration with local, state and federal agencies to create the funding to fulfill the needs of our community.
